Caterina Mariotti

Caterina Mariotti, MD holds a permanent position as Neurologist at the Neurological Institute Carlo Besta in Milan (Italy), where she is responsible for the Medical Genetics Unit, leading a multidisciplinary team involved in neurological assessment and genetic counseling for patients with HD or other neurodegenerative genetic diseases.

Since 2004 Dr. Mariotti is actively involved the European Huntington Disease Network (EHDN), being a PI for an Italian site for the European HD-Registry HD and, more recently, for the ENROLL-HD study.

Her main research interest is the organization and implementation of experimental, randomized, double-blind clinical trials in patients with Huntington Disease, spinocerebellar ataxias, and Friedreich’s ataxia. She is particularly interested on premanifest subjects, and on the characterization of biological markers of preclinical disease progression to support the efforts toward therapeutic advancements.
