Main fields of research are clinical and molecular aspects of Friedreich's ataxia, dominant ataxias,
familial spastic paraplegias, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington’s disease.
More than three-hundred papers published mostly on international journals (total impact factor:
1065; H-index: 50), 16 book chapters.
Scientific coordinator and responsible of research units in projects funded by Italian Ministry of
University and European Community.
Coordinator of the Italian Group of the European Huntington’s Disease Network.
Member of the Committee on Bioethics of the Federico II University.
